The Department of Sociology at Smith College invites applications for a 3-year, benefits eligible position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026.

ResponsibilitiesTeaching responsibilities include Introduction to Sociology, several intermediate (200‑level) courses in the candidate’s areas of specialty, and the possibility of an upper‑level (300‑level) seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise. The teaching load is 3:2.
QualificationsA Ph.D. in sociology or a relevant field is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in sociology are encouraged to apply. Strong candidates will have prior teaching experience.
