DescriptionThe Department of Film and Media Studies at Smith College invites applications for a one-year, half‑time benefits‑eligible position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026.
Teaching responsibilities include:
- Introduction to Film and Media Studies (co‑teaching with dept. chair) in fall
- A global media history course (history of film, television, or video games) in spring
- An advanced research seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise in spring
Ph.D. in Film and Media Studies or a relevant field is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in Film and Media Studies are encouraged to apply.
Starting pay is typically between $35,000 and $38,100; actual compensation will vary based on qualifications. Benefits are available and a competitive package is offered.
