Leeds Elementary School — Tiered Support Specialist (1). The Tiered Support Specialist will develop and establish mentoring relationships with students who are struggling to find success due to academic, social-emotional, and/or behavioral challenges. The role requires experience with managing challenging behavior and coordinating tiered interventions with the School-based Student Service Team.
Supervision:
The Tiered Support Professional will work under the direction of the building principal.
- Develop, implement, and staff a re-engagement center within the school in collaboration with the building principal; the center provides temporary academic instruction across curricular areas as needed.
- Support administration, teachers, and specialists in implementing behavioral interventions and delivering educational services.
- Collect, analyze, and report behavioral data, including conduct reports and restraints as required by Massachusetts law.
- Collaborate with regular and special education teachers and caseload educators to coordinate tiered instruction and related services.
- Work with classroom and special education teachers to support student academic achievement.
- Other duties as deemed appropriate by the principal.
- Maintain school behavioral norms and a high level of student decorum.
- Provide consistent academic and behavioral expectations.
- Support students with misbehavior in the re-engagement center and during transitions back to regular classes.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and related service providers.
Education and Experience:
Preference given to candidates with Special Education certification, school-based experience, background in special education, counseling and behavior intervention, and experience with at-risk populations. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Must have acceptable MA CORI and SAFIS National Fingerprint Background Checks prior to employment.
