Electrical EngineerIn MACOM's MMIC Business Unit we design MMICs and IMAs for aerospace & defense, cellular, and other wireless applications. We are looking for an Analog & Digital engineer with experience designing & analyzing circuits, power supplies, support PCBs, and test systems for RF & Millimeter Wave multi-chip modules. You will:
- Be responsible for the design, analysis, layout, test, and release of printed circuit boards embedded in RF/MMW integrated microwave assemblies.
- Design of circuits for DC filtering, voltage conversion, and power conditioning for MMICs.
- Design both analog and embedded digital circuits for control of MMICs.
- Hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, TCP/IP, UDP, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CAN Bus, UART, USB, Ethernet.
- Creating schematic circuit simulations and EM simulations where appropriate.
- Analyze analog and digital circuits using tools such as LTspice, MATLAB, TINA, QUCS, Multisim, Python, ICAP/4 SPICE, Scilab, Excel, PSpice, etc.
- Generating layouts and assembly drawings.
- Be responsible for all design activities related to product development activities from kickoff through engineering evaluations.
- Work with our MMIC design, electromagnetic design, mechanical design, assembly, and test teams to develop new products as well as production methods.
- Initiate prototype builds and manage product characterization. You will design evaluation boards and characterization fixtures, then direct or perform measurements.
- Generating design reports, progress reports, test reports, datasheets and bill of materials.
- Organizing design reviews.
- Cooperating with Project Manager in order to maintain an up-to-date project plan and schedule.
- Work with our Product Engineering group to transfer the product to production.
- Keeping up to date with latest technologies (semiconductor, assembly, packaging, tools).
- Maintaining passion for the latest in circuit board technologies and electronics in general.
- Customer support (sampling and application notes).
- Keeping up to date and maintaining passion for the latest advances in electrical & electronics engineering.
- Advocate for PCB-level analog & digital design as a function and core competency within the company.
- Generate engineering documentation, CO's, and PLM system entries for design work.
- Update design rules as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, M.S. preferred.
- Bona fide electronics and PCB enthusiast.
- Fluency with SPICE simulation tools.
- Fluency with several programming and/or hardware description languages. Some examples could include C/C++, C#, Ruby, R, Bash, Rust, HTBasic, VHDL, Verilog, FORTRAN, Cobol, BASIC,
B. - Comfort working in general purpose operating systems such as Linux, Windows, Android, Steam
OS, FreeBSD, DOS, Amiga
OS. - Experience designing both the hardware and software or firmware with embedded digital design tool chains for microcontrollers and FPGA's (such as Atmel, Xilinx).
- Comfort working with RTOS such as Thread
X, FreeRTOS, VxWorks, RTEMS, LynxOS, QNX, Atlas Supervisor. - Familiarity with RF/MMW IMA design techniques.
