About the Role
Woodard & Curran is a national engineering, science and operations firm focused on clean water, safe environments, healthy communities, and happy people.
We seek a dynamic, detail-oriented, and client-focused Professional Engineer to join our Water Team as a Technical Manager. In this role you will collaborate with municipal clients to develop, design and deliver drinking water projects across the New England region.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the technical leader for all sizes of projects
- Work alongside Project Manager(s) to lead the technical delivery of project tasks
- Determine the overall technical approach for projects
- Prepare and deliver presentations and training programs to internal and external clients and professional associations
- Provide input on the continued development of Woodard & Curran’s design guidelines and standards
- Assist in the development of project schedules and budgets
- Communicate proactively with project management and technical teams to keep them updated as work progresses
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet each project’s needs in a professional, reliable, and organized manner
- Mentor and direct junior and mid-level staff on technical assignments and review their work
- Coordinate with external suppliers and subcontractors to support project delivery
- Interact with clients and professionally represent the firm
- Visit client sites for meetings, proposal development and construction status observation
- Coordinate with contractors and clients in the field during construction to ensure compliance with contract documents
- Interface with state and local regulatory agencies and permitting officials
- Assist the Client Management team with proposal development and pursuit of new opportunities
- Participate in professional organizations
- Travel up to 20% within the New England region
- Work a flexible remote/hybrid schedule (2‑3 days in office or onsite with clients)
- 8‑15 years of engineering experience
- B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; M.S. Degree preferred
- Technical and project delivery expertise in civil and environmental engineering, with an in‑depth understanding of municipal water systems, including water supply, treatment processes and distribution systems
- Well‑versed in state and federal regulations regarding water treatment and distribution systems
- Knowledgeable about state bidding laws and funding programs
- Up‑to‑date on the latest technological advances, regulatory trends, equipment and processes
- Superior writing, communication and presentation skills
- Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island or Connecticut (or ability to apply for reciprocity)
