This person will work autonomously in the field while staying closely connected with the internal IT team and following established deployment procedures, documentation standards, and technical SOPs. The project will involve replacing older Sonic Wall equipment with a standardized Ubiquiti Uni Fi network stack.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to locations throughout Massachusetts to assess existing network infrastructure and identify upgrade requirements.
  • Document existing equipment, site conditions, network needs, and deployment requirements.
  • Determine equipment needs and assist with ordering hardware for upcoming deployments.
  • Receive, stage, configure, label, and prepare network equipment prior to installation.
  • Replace aging Sonic Wall-based infrastructure with a standardized Ubiquiti Uni Fi environment.
  • Deploy and install network equipment, including gateways/firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and related hardware.
  • Perform network configuration, connectivity testing, troubleshooting, and post-installation validation.
  • Coordinate deployments with internal IT staff and site personnel to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Follow established IT standards, SOPs, deployment procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of installed equipment, configurations, site conditions, and completed work.
  • Identify unexpected site conditions or technical issues and escalation appropriately to the internal IT team.
  • Independently manage a schedule of site assessments and deployments while providing regular status updates to the project team.
  • Hands-on experience deploying, supporting, or upgrading network infrastructure.
  • Experience working in multi-site or field-based IT environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including switching, routing, wireless networking, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience installing and configuring network gateways/firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Experience with Ubiquiti Uni Fi equipment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Sonic Wall or similar firewall platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to assess an existing network environment and identify equipment and deployment requirements.
  • Experience staging, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting network equipment.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while following established technical standards and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and employees at remote locations.
  • Reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel frequently between locations throughout Massachusetts.
Ideal Background

The ideal candidate may come from a background as a Network Technician, Network Administrator, Infrastructure Technician, Field Network Engineer, IT Infrastructure Specialist, or Network Deployment Technician.

This role is particularly well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on, project-based infrastructure work and is comfortable taking ownership of a site from the initial assessment through equipment preparation, deployment, troubleshooting, validation, and documentation.
