BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOROne (1) Full-time Vacancy
40 Hours per week
Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Contracted Salary: $140,000 – $155,000

The Business Administrator functions as specifically delegated by the Superintendent.
SupervisionWorks under the supervision of the Superintendent and in compliance with the policies of the School Committee and the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Essential Functions/Duties And Responsibilities- Coordinates the development of the annual budget in cooperation with the Superintendent, building principals and central office personnel.
- Coordinates studies and develops reports as requested by the Superintendent.
- Supervises the day-to-day bidding, purchasing and accounting activities of the school system.
- Coordinates the preparation of monthly financial reports and other comparative data as requested by the Superintendent.
- Approves payments of payrolls and expense warrants.
- Supervises and evaluates the activities of personnel in the business office.
- Oversees and evaluates the activities of the Transportation Supervisor.
- Supervises and evaluates the activities of the Director of Food Services.
- Receives and acts upon requests for community use of buildings.
- Provides Professional Development to school clerical staff.
- Serves as the Superintendent's liaison to the Human Resources Department, Auditor's office, Central Services Department, and other city offices.
- Serves as the Superintendent's representative, when requested, in grievance and arbitration hearings.
- Monitors the budget and all school funds, and provides projections on budget status.
- Manages the use of various software packages for Building Use, Staff Absence Management and Student Activity Financial Systems.
- Attends School Committee meetings and meetings of the Budget and Property Subcommittee and meetings of the City-Wide Capital Improvements Committee.
- Carries out such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
The Business Administrator reports directly to the Superintendent. This person has a line relationship to the support staff under their supervision. They have a staff relationship with each of the schools and with the Director of Student Services.
Measures Of AccountabilityThe Business Administrator will be evaluated using the MA Model Educator Evaluation System.
RecommendedMinimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- 5 years progressive responsibility in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration
- Licensed or licensable as a School Business Administrator in Massachusetts
- Experience in School Business Administration
- Master's Degree in Business
