Grace House is a residential recovery home located in Northampton, MA. It serves 12 mothers and up to 20 children. The population is families at serious risk of decompensation and long-term homelessness due to parental Substance Use Disorder (SUD). This includes women who have or will have physical custody of at least one child within 60 days of admission and/or those who are pregnant.
Your role as a Recovery SpecialistThe Recovery Specialist works within the Agency’s team model, establishing open communication and support. They assist families in need of substance abuse treatment by providing education and support needed to maintain a life in recovery. The role includes:
- Transfers written and verbal program information to staff electronically
- Mediates concerns between residents
- Coordinates with community organizations to identify and address the needs of clients
- Provides intervention and support services
- Assists clients in achieving success in their role as a parent in active recovery
- Maintains professional boundaries
- Monitors female clients during urine collection for substance use screening and conducts periodic room checks
Self‑motivated, demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, ability to be flexible, willingness to learn, familiar with person‑centered/trauma‑informed approach, able to navigate crisis situations effectively, demonstrates integrity, empathy, task‑oriented, team player, sense of humor.
Preferences and Requirements- GED or high school diploma required; associate’s degree or higher preferred
- Minimum of 2 years working in the substance use/mental health field
- Written and verbal communication skills are critical and ability to work with computers
- Female applicants encouraged to apply
- Background screening required, including a CORI and motor vehicle record check, and a reliable vehicle
Pay rate $20.00/hr benefits include dental, health and life insurance, paid time off, earned vacation time, and paid holidays.
ScheduleFull time second shift Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday 4:00 pm–12:00 am. Effective June 1st schedule changes to 3:00 pm–11:00 pm. Ability to attend mandatory daytime staff meetings and in‑person trainings required.
