Community Resources & Advocacy Resource Advocate (Northampton)

Are you knowledgeable about social services in our area and skillful in relationship building? Would you like to work alongside community members to advocate, set goals, and connect to other resources as they work towards stability?

Community Resources & Advocacy (CR&A) provides supportive services and referrals for community members in the Community Action Pioneer Valley (CAPV) service area. CR&A receives thousands of inquiries and works with hundreds of households per year. This role focuses on case management/advocacy services to assist participants applying for public benefit programs, offer financial assistance, and help secure housing and utilities. The position works primarily from the CAPV office at 155 Pleasant St.

in Northampton, MA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist participants in applying for public benefit programs and other public assistance.
  • Respond to information and referral phone and web inquiries.
  • Make internal and external referrals to appropriate agencies and service providers.
  • Provide case management services focused on financial and housing stability for individuals and families.
  • Collaborate with community members to set goals and track progress toward long‑term stability.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in social services or a closely related field.
  • Experience with case management for marginalized communities, housing/tenant rights, eviction proceedings, utility protection options, and advocacy for individuals.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Russian is highly valued.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to work collaboratively with community members.
Compensation and Benefits
  • 37.5 hour per week.
  • Pay range: $21.91 – $23.25 per hour.
