Community Resources & Advocacy Resource Advocate(Northampton)
Are you knowledgeable about social services in our area and skillful in relationship building? Would you like to work alongside community members to advocate, set goals, and connect to other resources as they work towards stability?
Community Resources & Advocacy (CR&A) provides supportive services and referrals for community members in the Community Action Pioneer Valley (CAPV) service area. CR&A receives thousands of inquiries and works with hundreds of households per year. CR&A Resource Advocates assist participants applying for public benefit programs, and work with eligible participants to offer financial assistance. CR&A Resource Advocates answer the information and referral phone line and web inquiries and make internal and external referrals.
We are exploring new CR&A service models focused on longer-term case management for individuals and families. This position will conduct case management/advocacy services alongside participants, focusing on financial and housing stability. The position works primarily from the CAPV office at 155 Pleasant St. in Northampton, MA.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of three years’ experience in social services or closely related fields. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Haitian Creole, and/or Russian is a highly valued skill for this role. Experience with case management with marginalized communities, housing/tenant rights, eviction proceedings, utility protection options, and/or other advocacy for/and with individuals are additional highly valued skills. The position is open until it is filled. This is a 37.5 hr/week position. The pay range for this non-exempt position is $/hr.
