Middle School Teacher

Plans, organizes, controls and directs the classroom to provide an educational program for pupils in grades 6 through 8. The position requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, a valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate, and Highly Qualified status in the appropriate subject area. The teacher must ensure compliance with employment eligibility through criminal history records, pre-employment drug testing, and physical examination/TB test. Proficiency in the English language with strong oral and written communication skills is essential.

The ability to deal courteously and tactfully with school personnel and the public, operate a computer and other office equipment, and maintain high-level confidentiality is required. The teacher must establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others and possess a valid driver's license if position requires travel around the district.

The teacher must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. The position involves teaching designated subject matter and other appropriate learning activities, analyzing school and individualized student data, establishing and maintaining standards of pupil behavior, distributing, collecting, and grading instructional materials, identifying pupil needs, participating in assessment and development activities, conducting instruction based on the written and Board approved curriculum, assessing student academic progress, providing instruction to students with special needs, developing lesson plans, creating a classroom environment conducive to learning, administering multiple-measure assessment tests, and maintaining regular and timely attendance.

The teacher also represents the organization and school to local and State groups, maintains professional competence through staff development activities, administers to the health needs of students, supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities, participates in meetings, conferences, and in-services, and performs related duties as assigned. The physical demands include the ability to access, input, and generate output of data from a computer, understand directions and instructions, and effectively communicate to exchange information.
