A Different Kind of RAC Role:
Welcome to SMR. Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division delivers planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members, from the driveway to the workplace car park. No emergency callouts or unpredictable shift patterns. You’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

You’ll be part of the Northampton cluster, covering Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Daventry, Towcester, Rushden. You’ll work in your local area, following a clear schedule of appointments, and focus on doing the job properly.

• Carry out routine servicing.
• Perform diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Complete in‑depth repairs that would normally be done in a workshop.
• Give member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

Planned appointments mean you’re not reacting to breakdowns. You’ll have a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, complete tool set and advanced diagnostics.

• Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

• Earnings that motivate – market‑competitive base salary of £40,170 with the opportunity to increase up to £52,000 through bonuses and premium‑rate overtime. Full‑time 40‑hour week, Monday‑Saturday availability (8 am‑8 pm) offers flexibility and stability.
• Opt‑in Guaranteed Overtime – after your first month, choose to work extra rest days at £30 per hour. One extra day per month could earn you £3,000 more per year; two extra days could add £5,000.
