Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location:
Northampton
Salary: £40,000–£42,500 per annum
Shift: Monday to Friday, Days (07:30–17:30)

We are looking for a hands‑on Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer with proven experience in a manufacturing environment. This role is primarily focused on reactive mechanical maintenance, with an element of planned preventative electrical maintenance (PPM). 50/50.
You will support approximately 30 production machines, including extruders, printers, and converters, ensuring maximum uptime and production efficiency. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and will become an integral part of the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance on production equipment.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Provide technical support for machinery breakdowns, installations, and improvement projects.
- Assist with general building services maintenance, including:
- Emergency lighting testing
- Fire alarm testing
- Air Handling Unit (AHU) PPMs
- Lamp replacements
- Basic plumbing tasks
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to ensure the plant operates safely and efficiently.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical maintenance experience with electrical knowledge.
- Relevant electrical qualifications or certification are desirable.
- Ability to fault‑find on electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment.
