Carpentry & Joinery Assessor
Location:
Northamptonshire
Salary: £36,200 – £43,200 per annum
Contract:
Permanent, Full-Time
Are you an experienced Carpenter or Joiner looking to use your trade expertise to support the next generation of skilled professionals?
Think FE is working with a well-established further education college in Northamptonshire that is looking for a Carpentry & Joinery Assessor to join its apprenticeship team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong, current industry knowledge who enjoys developing apprentices and helping them progress within the trade.
You may already be working as an Assessor or Trainer, or you could be an experienced Carpenter/Joiner with relevant mentoring, supervisory or training experience who is ready to move into further education.
The Role
Conducting workplace assessments for Carpentry & Joinery apprentices against relevant apprenticeship standards
Providing learners with constructive feedback, guidance and ongoing support
Monitoring learner progress through e-portfolios and digital systems
Maintaining accurate and compliant assessment records
Liaising with employers and training teams to arrange workplace visits
Ensuring assessments meet awarding body and regulatory requirements
Supporting apprentices to remain on track and achieve their qualifications
Travelling regularly to employer and apprentice sites
What do you need?
A Level 3 or higher vocational qualification in Carpentry & Joinery
Strong current or recent industry experience within Carpentry and/or Joinery
Good knowledge of apprenticeship and assessment requirements
Experience supporting apprentices, trainees, junior colleagues or new starters
An assessor qualification such as TAQA, CAVA or A1
A Level 4 teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one
Strong communication, organisation and learner-support skills
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle due to regular workplace visits
