Summary
GS‑12. Salary: $ (Step 1) to $ (Step 10). First‑time hires are typically hired at Step 1.
Major Duties- Direct and coordinate continuous data processing and hydrologic records management using SIMS, RMS, and other digital tools to ensure timely and accurate finalization of Water Year records.
- Oversee hydrologic data‑collection operations, ensuring field and office activities follow established methods, technical memoranda, Water‑Supply Papers, TWRIs, and QA/QC protocols, including spatial accuracy and mapping procedures.
- Manage section‑level program planning and execution, including workforce coordination, fiscal stewardship, and operational oversight to maintain consistency with New England Water Science Center policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Ensure proper oversight of ethics, conduct, and disciplinary matters by applying Departmental policies and procedures, maintaining a safe, lawful, and compliant work environment.
- Provide strategic leadership and supervision to ensure effective recruitment, hiring, retention, and workforce management practices, including accurate documentation to support EEO compliance, anti‑harassment protections, and other statutory supervisory responsibilities.
As a condition of employment, you will serve a 1‑year probationary period during which your fitness and continued employment in the public interest will be evaluated. The evaluation considers:
- Your performance and conduct.
- The needs and interests of the agency.
- Whether continued employment advances organizational goals of the agency or the Government.
- Whether continued employment advances the efficiency of the Federal service.
Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work. Education completed abroad may satisfy requirements if comparable to U.S. accredited institutions. Documentation of foreign education must be provided.
Key Requirements1. Valid state driver license and clean driving record, and ability to operate a government‑owned or leased vehicle.
2. Successful completion of a pre‑employment medical examination.
3. Successful background investigation and credit check.
4. Charge card issuance within 30 days of appointment and compliance with charge card policies.
5. Probationary period of 1 year.
