Job Basics

Location: USA - Northborough, MA

Summary

Sets up and operates extrusion equipment in Production to produce tubing/hose and profiles. Participates in engineering trials. Troubleshoots production issues. Works with engineering to be compliant to QMS as it pertains to new equipment qualifications.

Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Runs extrusion line if necessary.
Extrusion Technician 1
  • Set‑ups and tear‑downs of extrusion lines including essential paperwork
  • Starts extrusion lines and adjusts process to meet specifications.
  • Communicates with Manufacturing Engineer on all tool damage and wear.
  • Extruder and line cleaning and inspection, including tooling.
  • Runs extrusion line if necessary.
  • Basic trouble shooting techniques to bring product back to specification.
Extrusion Technician 2
  • Trains operators in line operation and inspection.
  • Advanced trouble shooting techniques.
  • Can identify root cause of extrusion problems and fix, i.e., material, equipment, process.
  • Performs simple maintenance of equipment.
  • Does not need supervision to run entire process and complete extrusion orders.
  • Completes all paperwork with minimal to no errors.
Extrusion Technician 3
  • Trains Extrusion Technician 1.
  • Works with NPD to run new product trials.
  • Works with NPD to create process characterization and solve advanced technical extrusion problems.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineers to determine root cause and solutions.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineers to write up work instructions and assess process stability and cost savings.
Required

Education and Experience

  • High School Degree or equivalent.
  • Silicone or Plastic extrusion or related experience.
Desired
  • Level 1: 2 years Silicone or Plastic Extrusion experience.
  • Level 2: 5 years Silicone or Plastic Extrusion experience.
  • Level 3: 10 years Extrusion, set‑up and training experience.
  • Level 3:
    Technical college degree.

Compensation

Compensation range: $25/hr - $35/hr
