Matec Instrument Companies, Inc. seeks an Electro-Mechanical Technician to build, test, and troubleshoot advanced ultrasonic and acoustic measurement systems used for non-destructive testing and materials characterization. In this hands-on role, you will assemble electro-mechanical components, wire panels, and integrate transducers following schematics and mechanical drawings. You'll calibrate and verify system performance, diagnose issues at the module or component level, and support engineers with prototypes and custom solutions.
Working in a collaborative, precision-focused environment, you'll help deliver reliable, high-quality instrumentation to industrial, academic, and government clients worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, wire, and test electro-mechanical components for ultrasonic and acoustic measurement systems
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and schematic drawings to build and troubleshoot systems
- Install, calibrate, and verify performance of instrumentation and transducers
- Diagnose and repair electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electronic issues to component level when possible
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and documentation on systems and test equipment
- Support engineers and scientists in prototyping, system integration, and design refinements
- Follow ESD, safety, and quality procedures in a laboratory and light manufacturing environment
- Maintain accurate build records, test data, and service reports in accordance with company standards
Required Skills
- Electro-mechanical assembly
- Reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Soldering and cable/wire harness fabrication
- Use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, and basic test equipment
- Calibration and functional testing of instrumentation
- Troubleshooting to component or module level
- Basic PLC or motion control familiarity
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement tools
- Documentation of test results and build records
- Working knowledge of safety and ESD procedures
