Production Manager
Description
As a Working Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Candidate must be engaged, dependable, and self-motivated.
Working Production Supervisor's Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
- Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to manager.
- Provide employee coaching and development.
- Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
- Provide leadership.
- Manage QDRs.
- Maintain proper inventory levels.
- Manage department priorities.
- Track absenteeism and timekeeping.
- Supervisor must have knowledge of all PPE available and train reports on when and how to use the PPE and enforce its usage.
- Ensure housekeeping is done on a daily basis to cleaning schedules.
- Lead accident investigation initiatives and reports. Provide training in monthly topics. Ensure incident reports are completed immediately.
- Regularly monitor the quality of product being made, direct lead operators in corrective action to correct and eliminate NCP.
- Look for NCP patterns, including but not limited to worker, machine and material causes and provide immediate corrective action.
- Work with maintenance to address any mechanical issues.
- Provide training in the measurement of product and the use of various gauges and tooling to ensure quality product is being made.
- Prepare daily production report.
- Using known speed and feed charts, ensure line leads are following the necessary speeds. Monitor and ensure all areas are running to the maximum possible.
- Responsible for the training of new operators in safety, operation of the machine, running to maximum speeds and ensuring SOPs are followed. Ensures all machine settings are strictly adhered to.
- Informs employees of how they are performing against daily goals that are set.
- KPI – production performance per shift. 100% of planned production is the goal.
- Use all resources available to ensure all areas are fully staffed and cross training occurs to create a solid matrix of workers who can fill in when others are out.
- Responsible to help recruit and encourage employee referrals.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience in a production environment.
- Previous quality management experience.
- 3+ years of prior supervisory experience.
Perform other related duties as assigned by managers.
