Position Summary

Hu Friedy Group  is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist to support Environmental Health & Safety activities at our Northbrook facility. Working closely with the EHS Manager and other team members, this role will help develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS management systems, training programs, safety audits, inspections, and incident response processes.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable working directly within a manufacturing environment and engaging employees at all levels to strengthen workplace safety and environmental compliance.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and deliver engaging EHS training while evaluating learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing review of EHS policies, procedures, safe work instructions, and employee communications.
  • Identify gaps and improvement opportunities within EHS management systems and help implement corrective actions.
  • Support injury, incident, and near-miss reporting and investigations.
  • Promote employee awareness and safety performance through safety meetings, newsletters, internal communications, and engagement activities.
  • Help develop solutions that reduce occupational exposures and improve workplace safety.
  • Support continuous improvement and behavior-based safety initiatives.
  • Train and educate facility safety committees.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental, chemical, machinery, and applicable local regulations.
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings and maintain EHS visual management activities.
What You Will Bring
  • Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, industrial, or operations environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver training and communicate safety information effectively to employees at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a hands‑on approach to identifying and addressing workplace risks.
  • Experience supporting safety, environmental, or compliance programs is preferred.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements

This position is based in a manufacturing and operations environment and requires frequent time on the production floor. Candidates should be comfortable walking and standing for extended periods throughout the workday. The role may require bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling materials and equipment in support of facility operations.
