Makes You A Good Fit?

Role

This is a full-time on‑site Estimator role located in the Greater Chicago Area. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for various electrical construction projects. Daily tasks include analyzing project blueprints and specifications, calculating material and labor costs, and preparing detailed bid proposals. The role also involves working closely with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and ensure accurate estimates.

Responsibilities
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance key customer contacts, assuring a long‑term and beneficial business relationship with the company.
  • Perform take‑off and estimating project functions from a set of drawings or sketches, within company guidelines and project specifications.
  • Estimating from on‑site inspection for repurposing, installation, repairs, troubleshooting services, or add‑on work.
  • Securing pricing estimates from suppliers that are realistic to the project.
  • Review, when necessary, with the Chief Operating Officer and Project Manager as to the manpower and efficiency required to complete various types of work.
  • Developing and implementing production and installation schedules, along with detailed work instructions in consort with the PM.
  • Maintain close communications with the PM during the project to critique the labor and material requirements of projects for future reference.
  • Maintain regular contact with the PM during the life of the project.
  • Within estimates, document all necessary permits, certificates, bonds and insurance policies, as required by local, state, or federal regulations.
  • Perform a site visit, if necessary, to ascertain critical dimensions as needed.
  • Conduct an internal post‑mortem and job analysis with PM and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Make it understood that THE CLIENT IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY, and that each employee is here to support that priority.
  • Update CRM Software to have current customer information and utilize it for project follow‑up.
  • Promote and encourage excellence at all phases of each project by periodic reviews at critical stages, encouraging peer reviews, post‑mortem reviews – monitoring and updating.
  • Review with Project Manager & Chief Operating Officer any proposal prior to submission to Contractor.
  • Follow up on bids until the job is awarded. If the company does not get the job, try to determine who got it, where the other bids were, etc. for future bids.
  • Participate in EOS activities, weekly meetings, cross‑departmental teams, and other EOS tasks as assigned.
  • Any other duties and tasks may be assigned from time‑to‑time by the Chief Operating Officer.
Additional Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable about commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential electrical systems and wiring methods, techniques, and costs.
  • Comprehend building codes and wiring requirements and techniques for bidding.
  • Be able to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
  • Proficient knowledge of National Electric Code, and electrical calculations.
Compensation & Location

This position will be based out of Northbrook, IL. This is a full‑time position that is available for immediate hire. A meaningful compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that will include a base salary, company vehicle with gas card, 401K plan with company match, cell phone, laptop/tablet, and health insurance.
