Job Description:
The Department of Global Humanities is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in English with expertise in rhetoric and writing studies at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in July 2026. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in professional and technical writing. We are especially interested in candidates with an interest in exploring the impact, implementation, and/or teaching of AI in rhetoric and writing studies.
Additional consideration will be given to candidates with complementary expertise in digital media studies, community writing and literacy, or other composition related fields.
Responsibilities include teaching a 3/4 course load (21 credits), which may include Writing and Inquiry in Public and Academic Contexts, Professional and Technical Writing, Digital Storytelling, Arguing and Persuading, and other topics in writing and communications. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of our writing curriculum, including courses that interrogate the relationship between humans and technology that could serve students across the institution.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, student retention, and recruitment.
Requirements:
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, Technical Communication, or a closely related field by July 1, 2026; demonstrated excellence in teaching first-year writing, professional and technical writing and/or advanced writing courses.
