Job Summary:As we continue to scale one of the fastest growing apparel brands, we are seeking a Production Technician Journeyman III to work on the Production room floor, be responsible for machine diagnosis and repair along with performing preventative maintenance. This employee is responsible for the repair of all machines on the production floor and works to maximize machine efficiencies and repair problems the first time and eliminates repetitive problems.
This role would work on our 1st shift and may move between our two sites in Vermont. The ideal candidate has experience with circular looms. We have negotiable relocation bonuses for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:- Performs preventative maintenance to help ensure machines run at 85% efficiency or better
- Problem solve machine malfunctions and breakdowns with minimal support
- Read equipment manuals and interpret them to understand operation and maintenance of machines
- Assists machine operators by answering questions, mentoring, and minimizing machine downtime
- Use and understand the components of a CMMS system to help track part life and to complete work orders
- Enroll for continuous training and education on technical maintenance practices to be updated with the latest maintenance techniques and be able to keep equipment in the best possible conditions
- Equipment repair and troubleshooting, working to understand root cause analysis for breakdowns
- Train apprentice technicians (levels 1 and
2) using the training matrix - Understand how a stitch is formed in the machine and the anatomy of a sock
- Keep production machines clean and well maintained
- Follow all safety procedures, wear protective equipment, when required, and keep the work area clean and organized
- Complete all monthly safety training requirements.
- Create SWI’s as asked
- Ensure other technicians complete their daily duties and meet standards
- Work closely with Technical Supervisors on ongoing projects
- Attend meetings as needed to represent the technical department
- Responsible for the ownership of their own career
- Updating and complete performance development plan requirements throughout the year
- Preventive Maintenance of all production equipment
- Other related duties as required
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts
- Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary
- Ability to use common tools such as meters, hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches
- 1-3 years of experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices
- 1-3 years of experience performing routine maintenance
- Ability to complete more advanced troubleshooting on production equipment
- Knowledge and understanding of all the control panels and functions of all equipment
- High School diploma or GED, with preference given to candidates with a technical background and proven maintenance experience
- Previous use and knowledge of circular looms preferred
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
- Ability to have our internal training matrix completed within 3 years to be at the Journeyman III level
- Ability to perform and understand the effects of sizing and size changes
- Works well in a team environment and is willing to be a team leader and consensus builder
