Rural Carrier Associate; RCA

Duties and Responsibilities

• Sort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
• Receive and sign for accountable mail.
• Load mail in vehicle.
• Deliver mail to customers along a prescribed route and on a regular schedule by vehicle; collect monies and receipts for accountable mail; pick up mail from customers' roadside boxes.
• Sell stamps, stamped paper and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcel post.
• Furnish routine information concerning postal matters and provide requested forms to customers.
• Return mail collected, undeliverable mail, and submit monies and receipts to post office.
• Prepare mail for forwarding and maintain records of change of address information.
• Prepare a daily trip report and maintain a list of the customers on the route.
• Conduct special surveys when required.
• Maintain an inventory of stamps and stamped paper as needed to provide service to customers on the route.
• Provide for mail security at all times.
