Assistant Director of Nursing RNCitadel At Casa Scalabrini is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing RN to join their team. The ADON is responsible for the nursing team and quality of patient care, partnering with the Director of Nursing (DON). The ADON supervises, analyzes, delegates and evaluates nursing services to maintain quality standards of care and advise medical staff, department heads, and Administration on matters related to nursing services.
AssistantDirector of Nursing RN Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews daily work assignments to ensure they meet regulatory compliance and provides consistent staffing whenever possible.
- Assists DON in daily management of the nursing staff, scheduling breaks, reassigning employees from one area to another as facility needs dictate, and enforcing policies with authority to issue coaching and corrective action with HR/Administrator guidance.
- Participates with Medical Consultants and the Administrator in the selection of all potential new admissions to the facility and assesses items needed to meet the new resident’s needs, admission, retention, and discharge of residents.
- Ensures physicians make visits as required.
- Ensures necessary equipment, supplies, and staffing are available for delivery of prescribed resident/patient care.
- Manages the nursing department budget and provides Administrator with budgetary planning information related to equipment needs and staffing.
- Collaborates with the DON and Administrator in planning staff development programs that enhance staff knowledge in providing quality resident care.
- Works with regional personnel to continuously improve quality of resident/patient care.
- Strategic planning or program development for improved outcomes to reduce unnecessary returns to acute care.
- Ensures that all elements of the facility’s Abuse & Neglect policies are maintained and enforced.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven strong management skills, including delegating responsibility to subordinates, performance management, conflict management, and leading through others.
- Strong financial and management skills.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Meets all health requirements as required by law.
- Basic computer knowledge and aptitude to learn company applications, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Education and Experience
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current RN license with the state required.
- Prefer previous nursing and leadership experience of at least three years; ADON preferred.
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, all with or without mechanical devices.
- Travel up to 10%.
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
