Laser Weld Engineer | Norton Shores, MI
Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are partnering with organizations in Norton Shores that are seeking Laser Weld Engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and document laser welding processes for new and existing products.
- Design and procure laser welding fixtures and tooling.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for laser weld defects.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
- Conduct material characterization and weld joint analysis to determine optimal parameters.
- Provide technical support and training to production personnel on laser welding equipment and processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in laser weld parameter development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, material science, and their impact on weld quality.
- Experience with various laser types (fiber, YAG, CO2) and their applications.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld specifications.
- Experience with fiber laser welding systems.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to perform basic metallurgical analysis (e.g., cross-sectioning, micro-hardness testing).
- Knowledge of fixture design for laser welding applications.
