Job Summary

The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and leading the College's digital marketing strategy, ensuring content and channel decisions align with Wheaton's strategic pillars and divisional priorities. This role manages the College's advertising campaigns, social media platforms, oversees a team of student social media interns, and partners closely with the Creative Director on branded social video content. The manager also owns analytics and reporting across digital and social channels, using data (including GA4) to inform strategy and demonstrate impact to senior leadership.

This is a strategic and hands‑on role, combining data‑driven thinking with creative execution, and requires close collaboration across divisions including Admission, Athletics and Advancement.

  • Leads digital ad campaign strategy and execution, including paid social advertising, A/B testing and other optimization techniques, audience research (keyword insights, demographics, and behavior), and overall digital marketing strategy in alignment with the College's strategic pillars and divisional priorities
  • Manages the College's institutional social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, Tik Tok, You Tube, and emerging platforms), overseeing content that reflects strategic priorities and institutional goals
  • Owns analytics and reporting (including GA4) across social and digital channels, translating performance data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations for senior management
  • Manages and directs a team of student social media interns, guiding them to produce timely, trend‑responsive content
  • Optimizes copy‑based content elements (e.g., You Tube metadata, video descriptions, web copy) for AI/LLM search discoverability, in partnership with the Creative Director and content team
  • Collaborates with the Creative Director and video‑focused student team to plan and produce branded social video content, ensuring consistency across channels
  • Monitors social media and relevant community channels (e.g., parent groups) for negative mentions or emerging issues, maintains ongoing tracking, and escalates potential crises to the Vice President and Director per established protocol
Minimum Qualifications

Degree:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field

Experience:

5-7 years of experience in digital marketing, social media, or a related field, including experience managing content strategy and/or supervising staff or student workers. Candidates with strategic and supervisory experience are strongly preferred over candidates who meet only the years‑of‑experience threshold.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experiecne may be substituted.
Skills
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, content strategy, and digital marketing best practices
  • Working knowledge of analytics tools, including GA4; ability to translate data into actionable recommendations
  • Experience with paid social advertising and campaign optimization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content and clear reports for senior leadership
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff or student workers preferred
