Position Summary

Faculty member in the Biology Department responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in anatomy and physiology, including lectures and laboratories. This role requires the ability to teach onsite or remotely as assigned and to support student learning and success.

Responsibilities
  • Teach all assigned classes unless excused; maintain attendance and student progress.
  • Provide opportunities for students to be aware of their progress and submit accurate records of enrollment, attendance, and academic progress.
  • Submit syllabus for each class to the Division Office and keep accurate records.
  • Support student learning through hands‑on laboratory experiences and fieldwork.
  • Maintain currency with current information, concepts, laws and ideas in disciplines and best teaching practices.
  • Check mailbox, voicemail, and e‑mail regularly and complete the checkout form before leaving campus at the end of the academic term.
  • Maintain student confidentiality as required by regulation.
  • Follow the Division’s policies regarding textbook usage, including providing exams and course packs at no charge and ensuring accessibility.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment in classrooms, laboratories, and instructional spaces.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in any biological science OR Bachelor’s degree in any biological science AND Master’s degree in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR the equivalent.
  • College‑level teaching experience in Anatomy and Physiology lectures and labs.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Ability to teach on‑campus or remotely as assigned.
  • Availability to teach a Fall 2026 class on Wednesday mornings, Friday mornings, or Friday afternoons.
  • Proof of California residency prior to employment.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and signing of loyalty oath per Government Codes.
Physical Demands

Requires ambulatory ability to move to various office and classroom locations and stand, bend, stoop, and reach to set up equipment; sufficient hand‑eye coordination, visual acuity, and auditory ability; able to lift, push, and pull objects of medium weight (less than 30 lbs.) occasionally.

Conditions of Employment

Assignments are contingent upon sufficient funding and enrollment; may include day, evening, and/or weekend classes. Faculty must obtain fingerprints for criminal history clearance, submit required credentials, and teach on‑campus or remotely.
