We are looking for a REGIONAL LOGISTICS DIRECTOR to join our Group Logistics team in North America. The position is located in Norwalk, USA.

What is the job that awaits you? In this strategically important role, you will ensure efficient, reliable, and cost-effective logistics operations in your region while supporting customer satisfaction and business profitability. Working closely with our Business Areas and external logistics service providers, you will play a key role in shaping and developing Metsä Group's logistics network and supplier partnerships. As Regional Logistics Director, you will be responsible for regional logistics sourcing, supplier management, and capacity planning.

key responsibilities include:
  • Leading logistics tendering processes, contract negotiations, and supplier management activities
  • Acting as the primary commercial contact and negotiator towards logistics service providers
  • Securing logistics capacity across land transportation, ports, and terminals based on business needs
  • Collaborating closely with Business Area supply chain stakeholders to ensure smooth logistics operations and high customer satisfaction
  • Identifying opportunities to improve logistics efficiency, optimize networks, and reduce logistics costs
  • Driving logistics development initiatives together with business stakeholders and service providers
  • Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring transparent stakeholder communication
  • Managing sourcing strategies and supplier relationships within your area of responsibility
  • Proactively identifying risks and opportunities and supporting continuous improvement efforts across the logistics network
What are we expecting from you?

To succeed in this role, you have a strong logistics or supply chain background combined with excellent commercial capabilities. You thrive in stakeholder-intensive environments and enjoy building long-term partnerships both internally and externally.

  • Experience in logistics, supply chain management, sourcing, or transportation services
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Experience in supplier relationship management and performance measurement
  • A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and across multiple stakeholder groups
  • A development-oriented mindset and passion for continuous improvement
  • Fluent English communication skills
