Position: Field Services Technician 1

Job Summary

The Field Services Technician 1 performs testing, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment at field locations. This role involves installing new equipment, operating and maintaining both digital and analog devices, and troubleshooting issues to find solutions. This position typically works under close supervision and guidance.

Responsibilities
  • Install and perform maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions using hand tools, test equipment, schematics, and manuals.
  • Interpret schematics, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Perform system checks to ensure operational readiness of devices.
  • Recommend improvements to circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Build cable assemblies and printed circuit boards (PCBs) as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Professionally interface with customer agencies to provide support and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware issues.
  • Perform general maintenance, technical and semi‑technical tasks not limited to electronics.
  • Develop technical skills through hands‑on learning and training.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures, including DOT regulations for safety sensitive roles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in electronic equipment maintenance and repair or related field.
  • Proficiency in basic computer operations and common software applications.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
  • Ability to follow instruction, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting technical documentation.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in challenging environments such as crowded public stations, extreme temperatures, noisy areas, extended standing, and stair climbing.
  • Flexibility to work on‑call, weekends, or holidays as needed.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Must submit to pre‑employment drug and/or alcohol testing and random drug and/or alcohol testing during employment in accordance with DOT regulations.
