Tax Senior / Senior Tax Accountant

Compensation: $105,000 - $120,000 Base + ~10% Productivity Bonus
The Role
We are seeking a Tax Senior / Senior Tax Accountant to take full ownership of client engagements from start to finish. This is a hands-on, client-facing role centered on serving small businesses and closely held clients. You will manage everything from cleaning up trial balances to preparing complex corporate and individual returns. For a driven professional, this position offers a direct, clear path toward senior leadership and partner-track opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Tax Execution:
Prepare a diverse mix of complex returns including Form 1040 (HNWIs, multi-state, QBI), Form 1065 (buyouts, Section 754 step-ups), Forms 1120/1120S (PTET regimes, 1040 integration), and Forms 990 & 1041. - Bookkeeping & Account Clean-Up:
Adjust client trial balances to tax basis in Quick Books; reconcile bank accounts, gross up payroll, record depreciation, and provide adjustments via Excel or journal entries. - Client Management & Advisory:
Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, gather information, meet deadlines, and naturally transition into a trusted advisor role. - Staff Development:
Assist with training and mentoring junior staff and interns, and begin cross-reviewing peer returns as you transition into leadership.
Requirements
- Experience:
4-5 years of relevant public accounting tax experience. - Credentials:
Active CPA license, or actively tracking/close to obtaining. - Software Proficiency:
Strong proficiency in Quick Books (Online & Desktop) and Excel. Experience with Ultra Tax CS and Thomson Reuters Checkpoint/CoCounsel is a plus. - Technical
Skills:
Ability to independently take a messy set of client books and work them through to a finished tax return or financial statement.
Hours & Culture
- Busy Season: ~55-60 hours per week during peak periods (Feb-April & Sept-Oct).
- Work-Life Balance:
