The Senior Manager, Product Safety, Quality & Compliance is responsible for enterprise-wide product integrity across a diverse consumer goods portfolio. This role ensures that products are safe, compliant, durable, and launch-ready for both ecommerce and retail channels.

This leader defines pre-launch requirements, establishes proof of compliance and performance, and manages product risk in a responsible, balanced manner. The role integrates regulatory requirements, internal standards, and business needs, providing clear judgment on performance tradeoffs. You will lead a global Quality organization, collaborate with Product Development, Sourcing, Legal, and Marketing, and advise executive leadership from product concept through post-market performance.

This is a senior, high-visibility role requiring technical depth, sound judgment, and an execution-focused mindset.

What You’ll Do
  • Product Risk & Compliance Authority
    • Own external product risk and regulatory exposure across markets.
    • Serve as the internal authority on global product safety and regulatory requirements (e.g., U.S. federal agencies, chemical compliance regulations, international standards).
    • Define category-specific regulatory and safety requirements, including warnings, disclaimers, labeling, care & use, and claims.
    • Lead formal product risk assessments and escalate when risks exceed tolerance.
    • Act as the decision-maker for product compliance readiness and regulatory go/no-go determinations.
    • Govern safety warnings, disclaimers, labeling, care instructions, and lot coding across products, packaging, digital listings, and marketing.
    • Lead incident response, regulatory reporting, and recall coordination when necessary.
    • Maintain clear, practical compliance guidance for product, packaging, and ecommerce execution.
    • Manage supplier compliance risk, including traceability, audit readiness, and escalation where vendor practices pose regulatory or brand exposure.
  • Quality Standards & Validation
    • Define product performance standards and how they are validated.
    • Establish category-specific durability and performance criteria aligned with consumer use and brand expectations.
    • Own the global testing strategy, including timing, thresholds, and scope.
    • Set pass/fail criteria for safety, performance, and claims substantiation.
    • Manage third-party lab relationships, testing scope, and cost efficiency.
    • Ensure product claims are accurate, defensible, and consistently applied.
    • Own the compliance module within the PLM system for testing requirements, results, approvals, and claims.
  • Supplier Execution, Inspection & Signal Detection
    • Lead supplier quality and compliance execution, including audits and corrective action governance.
    • Define risk-based audit and inspection strategies by supplier, category, and volume.
    • Partner with Sourcing on supplier onboarding, selection, and diversification based on quality and compliance risk.
    • Manage factory-level quality execution through a regional QA team.
    • Build right-sized inspection protocols based on risk profile.
    • Drive corrective and preventive actions, including root-cause analysis and supplier capability improvement.
    • Establish post-market surveillance through customer feedback, returns data, and marketplace signals.
    • Identify systemic issues early and resolve them permanently.
  • Leadership & Influence
    • Lead and develop a global Quality team, including international resources.
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across Product, Sourcing, Legal, Marketing, and Operations.
    • Provide clear updates to executive leadership on product risk, quality posture, and emerging issues.
    • Represent the organization with external labs, compliance partners, and industry groups.
  • What You’ll Bring
    • 10+ years of leadership experience in product safety, quality, and compliance within consumer products.
    • Experience across both hardlines and softlines preferred.
    • Proven experience owning testing strategy, quality standards, and regulatory decision-making.
    • Deep knowledge of food-contact regulations, consumer product safety standards, chemical compliance, and marketing claims requirements.
