About the Role
The Director, Business Operations of the Communications Team reports directly to the Chief Communications Officer and works closely with the Leadership Team to support the internal and external effectiveness of the Communications team.
Grade Level (Internal Use): 13
Responsibilities- Drive transformational operating model improvements, capability‑building, AI adoption, and stakeholder engagement to deliver measurable results and foster a culture of innovation and agility.
- Manage multiple projects in parallel, prioritizing short‑term and long‑term initiatives for the Chief Communications Officer, strategic business planning, growth initiatives, and reporting for decision‑making.
- Collaborate across functions and geographies to handle complex situations, balancing immediate demands with strategic projects.
- Work closely with key team members to enhance communication, problem identification, decision alignment, and speed of transparent communication.
- Support the Chief Communications Officer in maximizing executive time and visibility through organization of critical issues, deliverables, and stakeholder engagement tracking.
- Execute and monitor key initiatives or projects, maintaining an inventory of critical path projects and ensuring efficient progress.
- Assist with internal and external communications of the Chief Communications Officer, preparing briefing packets and meeting materials as needed.
- Monitor and analyze internal data related to performance (P&L, KPI reporting) and external market insights.
- Develop and implement AI enablement solutions for the communications function.
- Support the Communications team projects, strategic offsites, and other events.
- Execute additional responsibilities directed by the Chief Communications Officer and Communications Leadership Team.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of business experience in transformation, operations, or chief of staff roles.
- 8+ years of experience in technology, financial services, professional services, or a related field.
- Business administration degree (or equivalent experience).
- Significant experience interacting with senior leaders.
- Proficient with analysis tools and frameworks.
- Experience developing and implementing AI or automation solutions to increase productivity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling with data in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities while managing urgency and long‑term projects.
- Capacity to represent the role and the Communications team with confidence, urgency, diplomacy, humility, and confidentiality.
- Experience managing demanding deadlines, changing requirements, and ambiguity with limited resources.
- Proven ability to navigate effectively within a large matrixed organization.
- Very high standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretion and unquestioned ethics.
- Resilience and strong emotional intelligence to engage diplomatically and collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of S&P Global’s businesses, products, and services preferred.
- Undergraduate or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience.
Annual base salary range: $115,236 – $215,000 (dependent on geographic location, experience, skills, and certifications).
