Position Description Summary/Purpose :This on campus full-time faculty position includes didactic and clinical teaching in the Fones School of Dental Hygiene. Curricular management/assessment, overseeing and mentoring of second year clinical faculty, student advising and preparation for clinical board exams are also included. Appointment to academic rank and salary are dependent on demonstrated scholarly achievement, teaching, and clinical experience. This is a 12-month full time position located on the Bridgeport campus.
EssentialJob Functions/Primary Responsibilities :
- Didactic and clinical teaching assignments in the entry level, on campus program
- Ensure that the mission and objectives of the Fones School of Dental Hygiene are fulfilled.
- Teaches a minimum of 15 credits per semester (either didactic or clinical) for 3 semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer).
- Content areas may include, but not be limited to:
Coordination of 2nd Year Clinic, clinical teaching, periodontology, local anesthesia. - Maintains compliance with relevant local, state, and federal work practice guidelines.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
- Participation in department and university committees/activities
- Interacts/communicates and integrates with the other departments in the College of Health Sciences.
- Other duties as assigned by Director.
- Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and build an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
- Experience/proficiency with online learning and teaching in the CANVAS LMS or similar LMS
- Implementation of critical thinking and decision making for undergraduate students
- Vision for future program growth
Required Qualifications :
- Master’s degree required or in progress
- Minimum five years’ experience in clinical dental hygiene
- Two years’ experience in dental hygiene education (adjunct or fulltime)
- Current CPR Certification
- Current Connecticut Dental Hygiene License or eligible for
- Current Connecticut local anesthesia certification or eligible for
