Position Summary

The College is seeking part‑time Child Development Center Substitute Assistant Teachers who are passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. The Child Development Substitute Assistant Teacher assists and participates in teaching, protecting, and providing care for pre‑school children in a Community College child development center. The Child Development Center provides childcare, child development, nutrition, and related services for the pre‑school children of students, staff, and citizens of the community.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Carrying out planned learning activities and preparing materials and equipment for the children
  • Conducting learning activities with the children
  • Supervising children’s activities to assure their safety and to assist them with personal activities such as eating and toileting
  • Monitoring children’s progress and reporting any pertinent observations to the regular classroom teacher
  • Accountable for sharing pertinent information with parents about their child’s daily experience
  • Assisting in maintaining the safe and clean condition of the center facility and its equipment
Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in Early Childhood Education.

  • Experience working with young children (ages 6 months – 5 years old)
  • Experience in Early childhood education
  • Experience in Child development and learning principles and applications
  • Experience in Child protection and care Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of related experience working with preschool children and child development
  • Experience interacting with parents, children, student teachers, and staff
Special Requirements
  • Hold a valid First Aid, CPR, and Medication Administration Certificates approved by the OEC Division of Licensing;
    Health & Safety Training, Mandated Reporter Training or be willing to obtain one
  • Incumbents must be fingerprinted through the Office of Early Childhood and approved to work in a childcare setting

  • $34.06 hourly
