The College is seeking part-time lecturers who are passionate about inspiring, teaching and supporting the academic success of students enrolled in the Second Chance Pell Program. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Dean or designee, the Adjunct shall teach their assigned course(s) in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, perform other related responsibilities, be available at reasonable times to confer with students outside of class, and maintain accurate student records. Each semester shall be for a maximum of sixteen (16) weeks and shall include eighty (80) scheduled days of instruction and evaluation.
Incumbents can teach a total of up to 8 credits per semester within the CSCC system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching courses within the assigned discipline area in accordance with institutional standards
- Evaluating and assessing student learning outcomes
- Providing student support, mentoring, and academic advising
- Developing curriculum and periodically reviewing and updating instructional materials
Master's degree or equivalent in the subject matter.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Additional qualifications may be requested, as relevant to the academic department.
Preferred Qualifications- One (1) or more years’ teaching-related college-level courses (24+ credits).
- Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software.
Incumbent must go through a complete Department of Corrections Background check and attend a 3-hour Volunteer, Intern and Professional Partner (VIP) training on safety and security.
Salary- Salary $2,112 per contact/credit hour ($6,336 for a 3-credit course).
