The College is seeking part‑time Child Development Center Substitute Assistant Teachers who are passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. The role involves assisting and participating in teaching, protecting, and providing care for pre‑school children in the college’s child development center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Carry out planned learning activities and prepare materials and equipment for the children.
- Conduct learning activities with the children.
- Supervise children’s activities to assure their safety and assist them with personal activities such as eating and toileting.
- Monitor children’s progress and report any pertinent observations to the regular classroom teacher.
- Share pertinent information with parents about their child’s daily experience.
- Assist in maintaining the safe and clean condition of the center facility and its equipment.
Associate degree in Early Childhood Education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience working with young children (ages 6 months – 5 years old).
- Experience in early childhood education.
- Experience in child development and learning principles and applications.
- Experience in child protection and care.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Two (2) years of related experience working with preschool children and child development.
- Experience interacting with parents, children, student teachers, and staff.
- Hold a valid First Aid, CPR, and Medication Administration certificates approved by the OEC Division of Licensing;
Health & Safety Training, Mandated Reporter Training or be willing to obtain one. - Incumbents must be fingerprinted through the Office of Early Childhood and approved to work in a child‑care setting.
- $34.06 hourly
