Girls Varsity Volleyball Head Coach at Pomfret School
Pomfret, Connecticut, United States - Full Time
Job PurposeResponsible for overseeing all aspects of the girls varsity volleyball program.
Essential Responsibilities- Plan and conduct daily practices to promote development and improvement of skills, preparing players for games and competitive play.
- Educate student athletes about college placement and support those interested in playing in college.
- Work closely with the College Counseling office to strategize and assist student‑athletes with the college process during recruitment.
- Develop and maintain professional contacts with collegiate coaches at all levels to support student‑athletes.
- Assist Admissions by identifying and attracting qualified student athletes.
- Provide leadership, support, and guidance for the entire program and to other sports at all levels.
- Select students best suited in skill, commitment, and performance for expected level of play.
- Meet with student‑athletes throughout the academic year, providing professional development feedback for coaching staff.
- Require student athletes to represent the School respectfully and maintain sportsmanship; hold them accountable for behavior and attendance.
- Use athletics to teach and reinforce the school's mission and values.
- Create an environment that promotes enjoyment of the sport.
- Ensure health and safety of players, coaches, and spectators.
- Engage with parents and cultivate successful relationships.
- Promote the school and the sport through articles, media coverage, athletic website, game summaries, news to Communications department.
- Attend NEPSAC and League coaches meetings for Volleyball.
- Seek professional development through clinics, coaching associations, videos, or other opportunities.
- Adhere to all School policies and meet or exceed Pomfret Standards of Behavior, Character, and Engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Collegiate player or high school coaching experience preferred.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license held for at least three years.
- Travel to peer schools on game days (Wednesdays and Saturdays).
- High level of professionalism and ethics.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to students' development and college placement.
Requires substantial movement: running, jumping, tossing/throwing. Visual acuity within normal parameters.
