Special Education Para educator
Under the direct supervision of a special education teacher, the para educator supports students to participate in their educational program. Essential functions include assisting in the implementation of school policies, rules, regulations, and directives; following teacher's directions; assisting with classroom instructional goals and Section 504 plans; helping students with classwork; maintaining student records; encouraging appropriate student interactions; and supporting students during various school activities.
Special education para educators also assist in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEP) goals, provide mobility assistance, and support students in developing independent living skills. Required knowledge includes effective communication, active listening, data recording, teamwork, and organizational skills. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, Para Pro Certificate, and experience working with children in a school setting. The position is Monday to Friday, 27.5 hours weekly, with benefits available.
