Onward Search Education is partnering with Fairfield, Connecticut to hire Special Education Teachers for the school year
. We have two immediate openings supporting students in grades 6-8 in a resource-room / pull-out and academic assistance setting.

Location: Fairfield County, CT (On-Site)

School Year:

Schedule: 35 hours/week

Pay: $52.50-$60

Additional Role Details (2 Openings)
Opening #1 (Grade 6 Resource / Specialized Instruction):
  • 6th grade ELA, Specialized Reading, 6th grade Math, and Specialized Math
  • Strong preference for candidates with reading intervention knowledge/training (e.g.,
    SPIRE
    , Wilson
    , Orton-Gillingham/OG
    , etc.)
Opening #2 (Grades 6-8 Academic Assistance / Executive Functioning Support):
  • Academic Assistance teacher role
  • Focus on executive functioning goals/objectives and supporting students in core subjects in a resource-like setting
Job Summary

In this role, you'll deliver specialized instruction to students with IEPs in a small-group or individual setting, provide targeted interventions (including skill-building and reinforcement), and collaborate closely with general education teachers and related service providers to support student growth and access to the curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized instruction aligned to IEP goals in small-group and/or 1:1 settings
  • Implement targeted interventions in areas such as reading, math, and skill development as needed
  • Support students with executive functioning skills (organization, planning, task initiation, self-monitoring) when applicable
  • Collaborate with general education staff to ensure accommodations/modifications are implemented consistently
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instruction/interventions based on student performance
  • Maintain timely documentation and participate in IEP meetings and other student support meetings
Qualifications
  • Connecticut Special Education certification OR eligibility for CT certification (required)
  • Experience supporting middle school learners (grades 6-8 preferred)
  • Comfort working in a resource-room / pull-out or resource-like support setting
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff, families, and student support teams
  • For Opening #1: preferred experience/training with reading intervention programs (SPIRE/Wilson/OG or similar)
