Position: Senior Supervisor, Field Engineering Design (Hybrid Schedule)

Position

Summary

Join our Distribution Engineering Team as a Senior Supervisor, Field Engineering Design. In this leadership role, you will direct, coordinate, and supervise daily activities of field engineering designers, assigning work, prioritizing assignments, addressing customer requests (new service/reliability), and creating detailed construction designs for large distribution construction projects, state highway relocation work, third‑party make‑ready and other special projects. You will review and approve work for internal/external customer requests, maintenance, annual and project work, and be accountable for direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, safety leadership and technical guidance to assigned staff to produce high‑quality, timely and cost‑effective solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, direct, and/or assist with organizing and prioritizing work group activities, assigning and/or scheduling work duties to meet required completion dates.
  • Work with other departments on cross‑functional technical and business teams, working groups or committees to achieve departmental and company objectives.
  • Oversee and coordinate multiple engineering projects, programs or initiatives from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, safety policies and industry best practices.
  • Ensure successful completion of field engineering work (customer‑related work, maintenance, project work) including preparation of estimates, business policy applications, planning and design, customer contact, and allocation of resources.
  • Develop cost‑effective preliminary and detailed engineering designs and prepare work orders and estimates for distribution service/construction projects.
  • Provide coaching, directing and technical support relative to service/project installations, system priorities, engineering guidelines and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations.
  • Ensure designs are safely constructed and operated, follow safe and environmentally responsible work practices, and empower teams to take responsibility for customers and assets.
  • Collaborate with other engineers within Engineering to ensure consistency and teamwork.
  • Analyze workload to ensure availability of resources and coordinate work activities with other departments, outside contractors, customers, etc.
  • Assist with evaluation and development of new technology, equipment, systems, tools, standards and procedures.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve and streamline processes.
  • Support regulatory commitments involving local towns, state and federal agencies, responding to requests for engineering/technical assistance on Power Quality, Root Cause Analysis, Financial Planning, Project Management/Development and other departments.
  • Respond to requests for regulatory responses related to the distribution system, including responding to interrogatories, updates or additions to company tariffs, and testifying for Eversource on customer service, tariffs, reliability, or billing concerns.
  • Responsible for the safety of engineering staff, contractors and members of the public in relation to any project under your direction.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actions.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required (engineering preferred). An ABET‑accredited engineering or engineering technology degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of related experience, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in the utility sector or electric distribution system is preferred.
