Norwalk, CT | Hybrid (3 days onsite)

$140,000–$160,000 base + discretionary bonus

Why This Controller Role?

This is an opportunity to step into a key finance leadership role with a 75+ year, family‑owned construction company that has seen significant growth in recent years. The position is open due to a planned retirement, creating a smooth transition and long‑term runway for the right person.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all accounting and finance functions, including AP, AR, payroll, billing, and general ledger
  • Manage and support a team of approximately 4–5 accounting professionals
  • Own the month‑end close, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning
  • Provide clear, actionable financial insights to support operational decision‑making
  • Improve accounting processes and workflows as the organization continues to grow
  • Maintain a strong hands‑on presence while also contributing at a strategic level
  • Serve as a trusted finance partner across the organization
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting or related field)
  • Experience in construction is highly preferred, though strong candidates from other industries will be considered
  • Background in a Controller, Finance Manager, or similar hands‑on finance leadership role
  • Comfortable working in Quick Books
  • Proven ability to balance detail‑oriented execution with higher‑level thinking
  • Experience managing and developing accounting teams
  • Someone who values collaboration, stability, and long‑term impact
Compensation & Benefits
  • $140,000–$160,000 base salary (target around $150K) + discretionary bonus
  • Hybrid schedule – 3 days onsite in Norwalk
  • Flexible work hours
