This is an opportunity to step into a key finance leadership role with a 75+ year, family-owned construction company that has seen significant growth in recent years. The position is open due to a planned retirement, creating a smooth transition and long-term runway for the right person.
Responsibilities of the ControllerLead all accounting and finance functions, including AP, AR, payroll, billing, and general ledger
Manage and support a team of approximately 4–5 accounting professionals
Own the month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls
Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning
Provide clear, actionable financial insights to support operational decision-making
Improve accounting processes and workflows as the organization continues to grow
Maintain a strong hands-on presence while also contributing at a strategic level
Serve as a trusted finance partner across the organization
Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting or related field)
Experience in construction is highly preferred, though strong candidates from other industries will be considered
Background in a Controller, Finance Manager, or similar hands-on finance leadership role
Comfortable working in Quick Books
Proven ability to balance detail-oriented execution with higher-level thinking
Experience managing and developing accounting teams
Someone who values collaboration, stability, and long-term impact
$140,000–$160,000 base salary (target around $150K) + discretionary bonus
Hybrid schedule – 3 days onsite in Norwalk
