Title: Billing Specialist
Location: Norwalk, CT
Work Type: Full-time, In-office
Pay range: $30/hr-$36/hr (DOE)
About the RoleThe Billing Specialist is responsible for providing timely, accurate, and customer-focused billing support by responding promptly to customer inquiries, delivering clear and accurate invoices, and maintaining precise customer account information. Through strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and cross-functional collaboration, this role ensures billing accuracy, supports positive customer relationships, and helps exceed customer expectations. This position also requires in-person collaboration and travel to Lawrence, New York as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities- Deliver excellent customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and completing billing tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Analyze billing data and large data sets to identify trends, discrepancies, and variances, taking corrective action prior to invoice delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand billing and operational complexities and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Maintain accurate customer account information, including billing details, active services, rates, and contact information.
- Work across multiple systems daily to review and interpret operational and financial data.
- Adapt to new processes, systems, and tools while providing feedback to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrate initiative by proactively identifying tasks and issues without the need for direct supervision.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a billing role required.
- Experience in the waste services or environmental services industry is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Customer-focused and resolution-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities and a sense of ownership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Gmail, etc.).
- Experience with Quick Books preferred.
