Position: Software Engineer (ServiceNow)

Job Summary

The Senior Service Now Developer is responsible for the design, development, and unit testing of Service Now Catalog Items automation and integration solutions. The candidate will work with Business Analysts and SMEs to perform detailed requirement analysis, provide production implementation, and post‑production support for Service Now modules and features such as Catalog Items and other aspects of Service Now.

Responsibilities
  • Design, architect, maintain, and enhance Service Now Catalog items.
  • Create and maintain the current state of the Service Now platform architecture documentation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with non‑technical stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze impacts, and configure requirements on the Service Now platform in accordance with ITIL best practices.
  • Develop technical design documents.
  • Create well‑structured test plans, coordinate testing activities, identify, document, and track software defects, and facilitate regression testing of resolved defects.
  • Translate technical complexities into simple terms for project stakeholders, ensuring they understand the effects of design decisions on the Service Now platform.
  • Support Service Now upgrade planning and execution.
  • Manage and contribute to development efforts for Service Now modules using JavaScript, including support for newly developed modules or major releases.
  • Participate in configuration and customizations as needed based on customer requirements.
  • Contribute to an agile‑based intake and delivery process that supports service provision and delivery in an iterative manner.
Required Skills / Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in Service Now development.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript‑based design, development, and implementation of Service Now solutions for IT Service Management (ITSM), including Incident, Change, Service Request / Service Catalog, Knowledge, Problem, CMDB, and Service Portal.
  • Experience with server‑side and client‑side scripting on the Service Now platform, including Business Rules, Client Script, Script Include, UI Policy, UI Actions, and UI Pages.
  • Experience with Service Now technologies such as Workflow/Flow Designer, Reports, Email Notifications, Email Inbound Actions, SLAs, ACLs, Glide Record, Glide Ajax, and Glide System.
  • Fundamental understanding of key technologies relevant to Service Now integration solutions, including HTML, CSS, JSON, XML, SSO, SAML, SSL, Web Services, REST, SOAP, LDAP, JDBC, and ODBC.
  • Experience with automations and integrations in Service Now using API, Integration Hub/Orchestration, and similar technologies.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds to develop technical requirements and design.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Must be willing to work night shift.
Desired Skills / Experience
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodologies and processes is a plus.
  • Experience in Customer Service Management (CSM) is a plus.
  • Experience in custom Service Now application development, including scoped applications and workflow automation, is a plus.
  • Service Now Administrator (CSA)/Implementation Specialist (CIS)/Developer Certification/ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Agile Development and JIRA is a plus.
Education
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Management, or related discipline.
  • 3‑5 years professional work experience.
Compensation & Benefits

$95,000 – $115,000 per year. Position is incentive eligible.

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short‑ and long‑term incentives) will be determined based on geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability, specialization, and business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
