Overview
Senior Data Governance & Security Specialist role in a global manufacturing organization. You will help strengthen how data is managed, secured, governed, and leveraged across the enterprise. This is not a maintenance role. You will work directly with business leaders, cybersecurity teams, legal, privacy, compliance, and technology stakeholders to build and mature enterprise-wide governance practices that improve data quality, reduce risk, support regulatory compliance, and enable better business decisions.
If you have successfully implemented governance frameworks, driven data stewardship programs, improved data quality, and supported security and privacy initiatives, and you enjoy influencing change across large organizations, this role may be a fit.
Location:
New Haven, CT or St. Louis, MO – Hybrid
Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 + Bonus
What You'll Be Doing- Lead and enhance enterprise-wide data governance programs, policies, standards, and controls
- Partner with business and technology leaders to establish accountability for critical data
- Develop and support Data Steward and Data Owner programs across multiple business functions
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Privacy, Legal, and Compliance teams on data protection initiatives
- Drive data classification, sensitivity labeling, and governance controls
- Identify data quality issues and partner with business stakeholders to develop remediation strategies
- Support governance committees and executive-level reporting
- Participate in audits, risk assessments, investigations, and compliance reviews
- Promote a culture of data security awareness and responsible data usage
- Serve as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to improve data literacy and governance adoption
- Help shape the future direction of enterprise data governance across a large, complex organization

- 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Security, Information Governance, Data Risk Management, or related disciplines
- Experience working within large manufacturing, industrial, engineering, utilities, energy, or other highly regulated enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data stewardship, data quality, and metadata management
- Experience supporting regulatory and compliance initiatives involving GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or similar frameworks
- Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, Netskope, or similar governance and security platforms is highly desirable
- Background supporting cybersecurity, investigations, audits, or risk management initiatives is a plus
