About the PositionThe Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for the clinical, operational, and administrative leadership of nursing services within the detoxification unit and residential treatment programs. This role ensures the delivery of safe, evidence-based, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions.
The Nurse Manager oversees staffing, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary coordination to support optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care across all levels of treatment.
ScheduleMonday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Your Role- Provide direct oversight of nursing care delivery in detox and residential settings.
- Ensure implementation of evidence‑based practices for withdrawal management (e.g., CIWA, COWS protocols).
- Monitor patient acuity and adjust staffing and care plans accordingly.
- Promote trauma‑informed, culturally competent, and recovery‑oriented care.
- Participate in complex case reviews and high‑risk patient management.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychiatry, and behavioral health teams to ensure integrated care.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain qualified nursing staff.
- Supervise RNs, LPNs, and nursing support staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship.
- Develop staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Identify training needs and coordinate ongoing education (e.g., addiction medicine, de‑escalation, MAT).
- Foster a culture of accountability, compassion, and teamwork.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., Department of Health, DEA, OSHA).
- Maintain adherence to accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF).
- Oversee medication management practices, including controlled substances.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the EMR.
- Lead audits, inspections, and corrective action plans as needed.
- Monitor key quality indicators (e.g., incidents, medication errors, and patient outcomes).
- Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety and program effectiveness.
- Investigate incidents and sentinel events; implement corrective actions.
- Develop policies and procedures aligned with best practices in addiction treatment.
- Support infection control and workplace safety programs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning.
- Partner with therapists, case managers, and peer support specialists.
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff and executive leadership.
- Engage with families and external providers when appropriate.
- Promote patient education related to withdrawal, medications, and recovery.
- Address patient and family concerns or grievances.
- Enhance patient experience and satisfaction within the program.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, required
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Connecticut
- At least 3 years of experience in the field of addiction, program administration, and nursing or comparable experience
- Two years experience in a leadership/staff supervision position.
- Experience with both general medical and psychiatric populations
- Currently certifies in Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider required
- Certification as a Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN) or Certified Mental Health or Psychiatric Registered Nurse, preferred
The base rate of pay for this position is $105,000 - $115,000 per year. Actual pay is determined based on a number of job‑related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
