Job Schedule
Three 12‑hour shifts per week, rotating nights Monday through Sunday, 1900–0700. Off‑shift coverage as needed.
OverviewProvides oversight and monitoring of safe practices for the department and functions as the department educator. This role reports to the manager of Nursing Professional Development.
Responsibilities- In collaboration with the Nursing Professional Development Department, coordinate and track education for unit interdisciplinary staff to assure up‑to‑date competencies and required certifications as appropriate to role. Coordinate and track completion of unit‑based orientations.
- Collaborate with Department Nurse Managers to develop and coordinate unit‑based and online education plans. Conduct education for the department. Support and encourage nurses pursuing and maintaining specialty certifications. Provide CEUs for unit‑specific educational programs as appropriate.
- Participate in patient oversight by coordinating plans of care for high‑risk patients, facilitating root‑cause event investigations, and tracking all elements of any assigned corrective action plans, including completion and review of audits, necessary changes to policies and order sets, and monitoring staff completion of required education.
- Collaborate with medical staff members and nurse managers to plan and facilitate clinical drills for high‑risk situations. Participate huddles and high‑risk rounds.
- Collaborate with departmental medical and nursing leadership and Quality Coordinator to develop unit‑based patient safety goals, evidence‑based and team‑focused policies, procedures and clinical practice guidelines aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic plan.
- Function as a mentor, role model, and clinical resource, and provide feedback to nurse managers for staff member performance evaluations.
- Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Master’s level required.
CredentialsBLS, RN, CNOR, APRN, RNFA.
