OverviewThe Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving long‑term sales growth, profitability, and margin achievement within the assigned territory. Success is achieved through technical sales support, lead generation, and general business development.
Territory- Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont & Western Massachusetts
- Provide in‑person sales coverage of the assigned territory, using a personal vehicle.
- Develop maximum sales potential through competitive techniques and in‑depth knowledge of the company’s products, services, and the competition.
- Build and maintain quality relationships with existing accounts and consistently grow the account base and sales volume.
- Contact customers via telephone, correspondence, or in person, traveling as required to meet and surpass sales goals.
- Create customized proposals that meet specific customer requirements efficiently.
- Manage profit margins within company guidelines.
- Respond promptly to customer requests and resolve issues.
- Utilize company leads to expand the current customer base and follow up promptly.
- Maintain organized account files and submit sales activity reports.
- Provide monthly documentation of outstanding, secured, and lost proposals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal and value‑based selling skills.
- Strong presentation and communication abilities.
- Capability to develop deep technical knowledge of company products.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal, written, and reading skills for all communication levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
- Self‑starter with the ability to work independently.
- Strong work ethic and sensitivity to deadlines.
- Knowledge of the geographic area.
- Team‑player orientation.
Exposure to high heat or noise may occur when visiting customer plants. Daily noise from printers and traffic is moderate.
Physical DemandsThe role requires standing, walking, using hands, reaching, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 25 lbs., and driving long periods. Close and distance vision is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
TravelTravel regularly to customer locations for sales, problem‑solving, and may include overnight stays. Daily trips are expected to manage the territory.
