Current Wage: $27.46 hour
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum five years law enforcement, corrections or active military armed experience
- Must currently own a full‑size Glock or Smith & Wesson in either 9mm or .40 caliber or Sig Sauer, Beretta, CZ‑USA, etc. Must be full size (minimum 4.25" barrel length) and CT compliant magazine where it doesn't hold more than 10 rounds.
EXCELLENT BENEFITS INCLUDING:
- Guaranteed wage increases each year (2025–2028) tied to the Connecticut Standard Wage Act.
- Guard I rates rise from ~19.69–21.68 (2025) up to $25.36 (2028).
- Guard II rates rise from ~23.35–24.46 (2025) up to $30.89 (2028).
- Minimum 4 hours’ pay if called in or if a scheduled shift is cancelled without notice.
- At least 1 day off per week.
- No more than 16 hours in a 24‑hour period (except extreme circumstances).
- Paid 30‑minute lunch where practicable; unpaid if fully relieved.
- Right to sit at reasonable intervals on standing posts.
- Full‑time (=30 hrs/week avg over 90 days) – Family coverage.
- Employer contributions to 32BJ Health Fund: $6.38/hr (2025), rising to $6.88/hr (2027), capped at +6% in 2028.
- No waiting period for coverage.
- Protections against schedule manipulation to avoid benefit contributions.
- Coverage rules for layoffs, transfers, and recalls.
- Employer contributions to 32BJ Legal Services Fund: $0.11/hr (2025), $0.02/hr (2026), $0.09/hr (2027).
- Provides access to legal services as determined by Fund Trustees.
- Contributions to Thomas Shortman Training, Scholarship, and Safety Fund: $0.09/hr (2025), rising to $0.10/hr (2026–2027).
- Supports training, scholarships, and safety programs.
- Employer contributions to Supplemental Retirement and Savings Plan (SRSP).
- Details set by Fund Trustees to provide retirement savings.
- Personal Days Off (PDOs).
- Paid holidays.
- Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) protections.
- Other leaves of absence (jury duty, military service, etc.).
- Uniforms provided.
- Safety protections (Article 17).
- Union activity rights in buildings.
