DESCRIPTION:
Provide efficient support and operation of the specific assigned building by providing protection to the students, staff, building, and property by patrolling the building and perimeter, including parking lots to prevent unauthorized visitors or property damage
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
- Ensure safety of students, staff, and visitors
- Monitor individuals and vehicles entering and leaving school property
- Check student hall passes, encourage and ensure all students wear identification badges
- Patrol and monitor premises for prevention of fire, theft, vandalism, unauthorized entry, and/or parking violations and report infractions to proper authority
- Patrol and monitor hallways, stairwells, bathrooms, and other public and unsupervised areas to ensure the safety and well-being of the students, staff, and security of the building
- Prepare reports as required
- Assist Principal, educators, police and emergency personnel in all immediate security, safety and/or emergency needs with students, parents, and visitors as required
- Report discipline matters, suspected physical, mental and/or substance abuse to proper authorities immediately
- Adhere to federal, state, and local laws and regulations in relation to the physical control and restraint of students and staff, including those governed by the Connecticut Department of Education
- Attend professional development training as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

- Organizational and problem-solving skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
- Make contact with the public with tact and diplomacy.
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
- Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships
- Maintain a level of approachability by administration and staff
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Logistics & Safety Supervisor and/or Principal
- High School Diploma
- Bilingual in Spanish is an asset
- Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Norwalk Board of Education may find appropriate
Days:
Monday – Friday
Salary: $27.71/hour
